Materials and Finishing
Attention to materials, processes and finishing details make the Lynn Cove collection the highest quality steel and aluminum architectural hardware available.
Powder Coat
All the materials listed below are finished with the Lynn Cove powder coat process after our corrosion protection pretreatment. Our powder coat is particularly durable, thanks to both its hardness and UV resistance.
Stainless Steel
The best choice for the longest product lifetime in coastal environments, due to its high chromium content. Stainless steel is more costly than other metal options and the first choice for storm-rated shutter systems, thanks to its durability over time. All items listed as stainless steel are alloy 18-8 (304).
Aluminum
Our aluminum castings and extrusions are also suitable for salty environments thanks to the use of marine grade alloys. Cast aluminum is ideal for reproducing the traditional appearance of cast iron, with far superior resistance to corrosion.
Galvanized Steel
Our galvanized steel products are made from carbon steel, a less costly option when stainless is not required. We recommend this material for inland applications at least 20 miles from the coastline. The carbon steel is treated with a layer of zinc before powder coating. The combination of both treatment techniques gives these products double the lifetime of powder coat alone.
Fasteners
All fasteners are made of 18-8 stainless steel. Pintles and hinges are shipped with wood screws, unless otherwise noted in the product specifications.
